G.R.A.P.E.s – Maturity

This entry is part 53 of 53 in the series G.R.A.P.E.s

There are very few Christians in the world today that have grown beyond babyhood. In fact, the Apostle Paul wrote to the Church at Corinth:

“But for right now, friends, I’m completely frustrated by your unspiritual dealings with each other and with God.  You’re acting like infants in relation to Christ, capable of nothing much more than nursing at the breast. Well, then, I’ll nurse you since you don’t seem capable of anything more.  As long as you grab for what makes you feel good or makes you look important, are you really much different than a babe at the breast, content only when everything’s going your way?” (MSG Translation)

This is an unfortunate situation because there is only one fruit that babies produce and whether it is solid or runny it stinks like yesterday’s diapers.  Whether you are a baby Christian or your exterior shows you to have been one for a long time, maturity is not that far off if you will be a doer of the Word.

G.R.A.P.E.s – Winning

This entry is part 53 of 53 in the series G.R.A.P.E.s

With the 2010 Olympic Winter Games over, there is an important lesson that we can learn from Team Canada’s overtime win.  First, they opted to become defensive-minded instead of remaining on the offensive.  While good defence is important, it will ultimately be the offence that wins the game.  You must score one more goal than your opponent.  As a Christian, it is a reminder not to become so defensive in the world that we forget that our job is to outscore our opponent.  Oddly enough, there is no overtime in the game of life.  Remember, Jesus’ last command before He left earth was not just to win souls, but to disciple them in His ways.

The miracles that Moses’ life produced delivered the Children of Israel from slavery, poverty and brought them to the edge of their homeland. Planning ahead is more a skill than an art. When you follow any well laid out plan, you increase your success rate by ensuing you are equipped to complete the goal. When Jesus sent the Disciples into the world, He equipped them with the necessary power to minister to the lost. Similarly, Jesus has equipped us with the necessary power to finish our race.

There are several definitions for the word “witness.” One of the commonly used meanings in the Christianity is that a Christian shares the Gospel with someone who either has not heard the Gospel or does not believe in the power of the Gospel to save. The best method for sharing the Gospel is for Christians to actually talk to people about the Gospel. Listen to what the Holy Spirit is telling you to say and do so that you can lead people into Heaven.
