Christmas is the chosen time that we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Saviour. Jesus’ birth and first years are well chronicled in the Gospel’s, but there are still some misinterpretations that remain to this day. One of these persistent misinterpretations is that the Magi arrived in Bethlehem the day that Jesus was born. This is simply not true, because this means they needed to see the star well before the birth. Travel was limited in those days. You could not simply hop the corporate jet and be there in a few hours.
The best scientific proof that I have come across that corroborates the Biblical account of Jesus’ birth can be found at bethlehemstar.net. Please visit them and learn about what actually happened and how science supports the Bible.
Thank you so much for visiting MinistryGeek.com over the past year. May God continually bless you as we move closer to the return of our Lord and Saviour. Celebrate Christmas and have an excellent New Year!
The Prophet Isaiah said:
Isaiah 8:18KJV
(18) Behold, I and the children whom the LORD hath given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from the LORD of hosts, which dwelleth in mount Zion.
What are these signs and wonders? They are manifestations of the Holy Spirit. Looking through the Bible, we can see numerous signs that there is a God in Heaven. Water came from rocks, the Red Sea split, the walls of Jericho crumbled and the walls of Jerusalem were rebuilt. In recent history, Israel became a nation, something which was prophecied centuries earlier.
Jesus’ life provides us with what signs and manifestations should be following us.
Luke 4:17-21 NLT
(17) The scroll of Isaiah the prophet was handed to Him. He unrolled the scroll and found the place where this was written:
(18) “The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, for He has anointed Me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent Me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free,
(19) and that the time of the LORD’s favor has come. ”
(20) He rolled up the scroll, handed it back to the attendant, and sat down. All eyes in the synagogue looked at Him intently.
(21) Then He began to speak to them. “The Scripture you’ve just heard has been fulfilled this very day!”
Healing, prosperity, freedom and life followed Jesus. To those that witnessed them, they were signs and wonders. But signs and wonders did not stop with Jesus. Jesus charged us with the following:
Mark 16:15-18 NLT
(15) And then He told them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone.
(16) Anyone who believes and is baptized will be saved. But anyone who refuses to believe will be condemned.
(17) These miraculous signs will accompany those who believe: They will cast out demons in My name, and they will speak in new languages.
(18) They will be able to handle snakes with safety, and if they drink anything poisonous, it won’t hurt them. They will be able to place their hands on the sick, and they will be healed.”
Dr. Robb Thompson has posted, what I consider the best description of what you as an individual in the Body of Christ need to accomplish on a continuous basis. Please read Dr. Thompson’s article here.
I came across this question a number of times in the recent weeks. It is a question that you can you to refocus yourself and check your motives and attitudes. Remember, Christianity is not the Boy Scouts – souls are at stake. We need to be listening to the Holy Spirit so that we are where we are supposed to be (we call these Divine Appointments) to minister when He needs us to. And now, the question:
If God is God and He loves you, then the question is not that He loves you, rather how much to you love Him?
Take some time over the Christmas and New Year’s season to reflect on 2008 and to plan and prepare for 2009.
